Color Switch By Vera Mona Brush Cleaner

The Color Switch by Vera Mona is a dry, makeup-removing sponge that was released in 2014. There is the Color Switch Solo ($16.99), which is just a mesh sponge in a tin, as well as the Color Switch Duo ($19.99), which features a center piece that can be dampened for wet makeup application. Vera Mona also incorporates this sponge into an armband called the Proband ($34.99) as well as an eyeshadow palette ($32.99).

Just this year, Sephora launched the Sephora Color Switch by Vera Mona as part of the Sephora Collection. At $18.99, this item costs more than it would if you bought it from Vera Mona directly. But if you're already interested in the Color Switch and you're looking to add points to your beauty bank, then an extra $2 isn't a deal breaker. Here's the product info straight from Sephora:

What it is:
A dry, makeup-removing sponge that allows you to switch colors without having to switch brushes.

What it does
Inspired by a common makeup artist dilemma of how remove powder product from brushes without the drying time of a liquid brush cleaner, this sponge offers a dry alternative. The special material allows you to remove pigment from your brushes without brush cleaner formula. Simply swipe the brush over the sponge until pigment is removed and move on to the next color. The sponge is completely reusable and can be cleaned by washing it with warm water and soap or it can be sprayed with disinfecting brush cleaner for a quick cleanse.

The Color Switch is metal tin with a mesh sponge inside. This sponge is made of a material similar to the round donut-like sponges used for hair buns, although it seems a tad bit sticky. At first I was skeptical that a dry product could get rid of the product on my brushes, but I tried it out and lo and behold, it worked!

It says on the packaging that this sponge can be used on either side and can be washed. I haven't washed mine yet, but I'll probably use my Blender Cleanser solid for this. Even though I don't wear eye shadow much anymore, I'm excited to add this handy dandy little thing to my makeup tools for when I do feel like doing a little something extra. It'll be great to have only one eye shadow brush on my dresser instead of a handful!
